Government & Perservation

Well this posting will go a little a stray from whole purpose of this blog, but who cares.

While preparing to teach a lesson on a patriotic theme, I was searching through the scriptures under government and came across DyC 88:34 "that which is governed by law is also preserved by law". As I read this I started to think of our current political climate in which we live.

Let me give an example; think of the title of a "Virgin". What definition (LAW) governs the use of that title? ... This same law (definition) is what preserves the group of people as elite, those who abide by this law. It shows that these people have self control, have discipline, they know of the sacredness of their bodies, and ultimately want to show honor to Him who created them through obedience. (Now I will add that God has ordained one way to drop this title, and that is by exchanging it for the title of "Husband" or "Wife".) Once the definition of virginity is violated, it cannot be applied to that individual again (Except as allowed by the Highest Law the Atonement.) Hence the law that governs who can apply this title also keeps those bearers of it on a pedestal.

Now, let’s say that the definition of "Virginity" changes and can be applied to a person that has violated the original definition 5, 6, 7 times. It would instantly take the title of a "Virgin" from being one of honor to one that has no real meaning.

Back to the current political climate and the debate about the definition (laws) of marriage, for many of those who are in support of preserving the traditional definition of marriage, it has nothing to do with denying anything to anybody! It does have everything to do with preserving the holiness and sanctity of something, their marriage!

Thanks,

Jeff

The other day a certain child wanted to sing this song, so we decided to record it and post it on our world famous blog.

This is a short term posting since a name was mistakenly used in the media file.
